The Dillard Innovation Zone will present the annual Family Literacy event on Thursday, January 15th, 5:30pm at William Dandy Middle School, 2400 NW 26th Street, Fort Lauderdale.
This years event, themed “Passport to Success,” is a fun-filled day of learning for the entire family is designed specifically to assist and involve parents in the teaching and learning process. Through the Family Literacy Day activities, parents will become familiar with state and District education standards and expectations. Teachers will show parents effective ways they can support school and homework assignments in all content areas that will be tested and scored for proficiency this year. Concurrent sessions and workshops on reading, writing, math, and science skills, along with hands-on strategies and activities for both parents and students will be offered throughout the day for all grade levels.
A supporting cast of administrators, teachers, specialists and staff will be represented from all Dillard Innovation Zone Schools including Broward Estates, Dillard, Martin Luther King, Lauderdale Manors, Thurgood Marshall, Rock Island, Sunland and Westwood Heights Elementary schools, Arthur Ashe, Parkway and William Dandy Middle schools and Dillard High School. The day will include lunch and drawings for prizes and giveaways.
