A solderless breadboard makes just about any electronics project much simpler to build and test. Whether shaking down a circuit designed by someone else or prototyping one of my own, the first thing I grab when I sit at my work bench is one of these incredibly useful devices. In fact, I almost never use solder any longer. I’ve burned myself too many times over the years and destroyed too many sensitive components. Rather, these days I prefer to just build my circuits on a solderless breadboard and then plug the board directly into my project box. And I’m sure that nearly all science fair students (and most adult citizen scientists) would live happier lives if they did the same.
If you’ve never used a solderless breadboard before, then sit back and enjoy this brief and basic introduction. I created it just for you.
And if you’re looking for tail-kicking science projects that will give you a great chance to develop your circuit building skills, don’t forget to check out my super science fair support center at scifair.org.
