Among the great lies we tell ourselves, the idea that we live in isolated homogenies may be the most transparent. All day long we argue within our families, even if we only live with dogs. Any congregation with two or more members features one or more schism as well as the presence of the Lord. Every small town and big city has been divided between the interests of one set of thieves against another. Consensus is no where to be found and yet when we describe the disputes among us, we love to divide along grand borders, arbitrarily placed to imitate meaning and inspire the suspicions that drive us guilelessly into the embrace of one demon or another. I can remember times in the rural parts of red states listening to complaints against Republicans and the church and all the values people call republican The blue states and red states, faith-based and secular, urban and rural, rich and poor, theocratic, democratic, dramatic, aquatic, homosexual, intellectual, real and plastic of every religion, race and creed united into a single universal community by the conspiracy against us. There is only a single species of human: the brave, noble and true victim. Ironically, no sooner do we fantasize the communities for membership in which we are persecuted then we conflate them. Those angry at us for trying to control them hate us because we are Christian or Muslim. Poverty becomes race. English becomes American, the law judaism and medicine orientalism as the cause the world despises us for. I suppose no-one wants to be hated for their stupidity and disagreeable nature. I mean other than your correspondent and present company, of course. The cabal has become the global currency worshipped alongside God and gods, our source of the mystic- a club with no members and countless activities. It is the cabal which sets the price of gasoline in lieu of supply and demand. It is the cabal that elects Republicans in the United States and Hamas in Palestine rather than the judgement of the people against the feckless and corrupt. It will be the cabal that, in hindsight, will argue that the current U.S. President was incapable and negligent of governing and the cabal which will count the votes this autumn to return cowardly craven fools on the right to majorities in both houses of the United States Congress or replace them symmetrically. It’s an extraordinary thing to suffer together under the manipulations of those who collude against us in secrecy and then complain to the world.
