DR. ELMO & DOUG ADAMZ Elmo Shropshire - a.k.a DR. ELMO - is best-known for his recording of "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer," the Christmas classic which has sold more than 10 million copies since it was first broadcast by a San Francisco radio station in 1979. Consistently the most requested holiday song of the past two decades, "Grandma" has secured its place in American pop culture and made Dr. Elmo the king of comedy carols. Elmo met Doug at a “pickin’ party” (where musicians get together to swap songs) hosted by Larry Carlin. When Doug played ‘Bernardo’s Serenade’, Elmo knew he had found someone who could match him in pure, good-natured weirdness; a soulmate (or, if they ever really do make it to the funny farm, a cell mate). Over the years since that hysterical meeting, the two have performed together many times and Doug penned several songs that Elmo recorded and included on his albums.
