"Stratifié Industriel" founded by naval architect Michel Dufour, launched the Dufour 27 in 1974. In the first year of production Dufour sold more than 190 of these versatile little 27 foot sailboats, how do I know, because I own hull number 193. How many Dufour 27’s were sold before the end of the final production run is unknown as is so much about Dufour’s early days.

Michel Dufour created the legendary 30 foot Arpege, an unprecedented success in 1968 that revolutionized the design of cruising yachts. In 1973 Dufour produced more than 600 boats and Dufour became the leading production sailboat builder in the world. Dufour was awarded the highly coveted "Prix de l'Exportation" award.
