Here’s how it started.

It was a slow Friday morning and I was about half way through my Honey Nut Cheerios when I turned to read Ed Grisamores column in the Macon Telegraph. The headline immediately grabbed my attention and the more I read the more I wanted to participate in an attempt at a world record. You see, I’ve never set a world record for anything to be proud of and this would probably be my one and only chance. I can’t carry a tune in a bucket but with thousands around me I can fake it. So I’m in!

I’ve loaded up Mr. Grisamores column so I get it right. Read the next post for the details.

I sent an E-mail to clear up a minor point and received a reply. Here is the conversation.

Mr. Grisamore:

I have a local Web site here in Warner Robins aimed primarily at seniors. I mentioned your
August 24 column a few days ago and received some interest from a few callers and I need to
clarify a point.  Is this Guiness Kazoo fest open to all or confined to Macon folks only. I was
thinking that if the title goes to Macon there may be some small print in the rules (there always is)
about outsiders participating and I don't want to stir up the old folks here if they can't join in.

I think the attempt at the record is a great community activity. If Middle Ga can't put 3,000
Kazooers on the field for an hour we should return our "Kazoovilization" visas and just
"Sit on the dock of the bay".  Now where did I put those lyrics

The kazoo record is not limited to the citizens of Macon. Sorry about the confusion. We would welcome as many groups as you can bring.

You might want to send me your phone number, too.
