I received the following from Steve Scroggins, Georgia State Fair Board of Directors.
Mr. Bill, thank you for your interest in the Kazoo world record and your enthusiasm.
As Ed wrote, this is absolutely open to EVERYONE , and we welcome our neighbors, friends and cousins from Warner Robins and anywhere else. I grew up in WR, graduated Northside class of '77 and played for Coach Nix all three years ---especially 1975 when we should have won the state Championship (those rascals from Central in Macon won it that year...), so I still consider Warner Robins home.
For your info, there has been some interest expressed by several assisted living homes in the Macon area and we're told they plan to arrange several busloads of folks to the Georgia State Fair to help us set the record. We hope to have hundreds (thousands?) of seniors on hand for this historic event.
We're hearing from high schools (Mount De Sales, Tatnall Square Academy, et al) and plan to contact others to recruit all the bands and music classes and interested others we can. Thursday night will be "college night" so we hope to have help from lots of young people as well as old. This is a community event and we need the community's help.
There are some nice folks up in New York....but we don't want to let them hold the world record for an instrument invented right here.
I believe Guiness will require us to get a name/signature for all participants, so we're working on the logistics to get everyone signed up and in the stadium (Luther Williams ball park). But there's no limit or restriction on WHERE those people come from. We hope to arrange some musical entertainment to occupy the crowd while we assemble the folks and count heads leading up to the culminating moment.
In case you're not aware, the Georgia State Fair is owned and operated by the Exchange Club of Macon as a fundraiser for charity....hence the slogan "Macon Fun for Local Charities". This will be the 152nd annual Georgia State Fair in Macon, (operated by our club since 1942) and this event is in keeping with our tradition of FUN and community.
This Kazoo thing is not a money maker per se, but our hope was to bring the community together to have fun and to have something to take pride in and brag about. Like the LL World Series winners from Warner Robins....all of Macon and Georgia are proud of their achievement and the class and character they showed in victory. This kazoo thing won't rank with that for putting central Georgia on the map...but it will be a LOT of fun!

If you need further information, please don't hesitate to call or write.
