What IS a Queen?

The Reason

The people of Mississippi have been fighting to keep their families together since the hurricanes of 2005.  Although some cities were washed away, with media attention focused on Louisiana, they have struggled to keep their heads above water.  Some have worked tirelessly to help others.  In the aftermath of total destruction, trauma and exhaustion, it is difficult to know if and when things might be better.

Why a “Queen”

A Queen is someone less fortunate than yourself. Someone who needs a break. We imagine woman of status as -- queens -- and for on day these woman need to feel that. Are you that someone that can help one, simple day? Donating the cost of your internet service for a month, or year, can dramatically change a person’s life. Of course, the more donations, the more women who can be helped. Queens are woman who have been fighting to keep their families safe, since the life-changing effects of Katrina – and the are STILL in need. These are people who need just an ounce of pampering, hope and compassion, so they can again feel like the queen of their family. Since the hurricanes, they have struggled just to keep food in their stomachs, and those of their family, as well as a shelter over their heads. They are exhausted, and for many, there seems to be no end in sight.

A Queen for A Day is a network of volunteers bringing hope to those who feel hopeless and in-turn inspire the brokenhearted.
