Bayeux was a nice low key break.  We went straight to the museum to see the famous Bayeux tapestry that tells the story of the battle of Hastings.  We had the remainder of the day free.  I took time to do laundry - yay, clean clothes!  I sat in the hotel garden and c
aught up on my journal and even did some souvenir shopping.  We had a group dinner together that night.  We tried the famous calvados brandy.  It is made from apples, but all I could taste was the alcohol - woo! I was so thankful for our late start time the next morning because it allowed us to go to the farmer’s market just across the street from our hotel.  Beautiful fruits and vegetables on display - they even had chicks for sale.

Perfect place to sit and journal in the calm of the garden.

The tapestry is actually a band of linen 225 ft. long embroidered with colored wool.  The tapestry is from the 11th century and depicts William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings from 1066.  The museum provided headphones with narration of the embroidered scenes as we walked along.
