We are now one year past the end of treatment.
Tomorrow we go in for a big check-up. Kyler’s starts the day at 6:30 AM with a three-hour MRI. He will then have two other appointments during the day with his pediatric oncologist and neurosurgeon. This is a significant MRI because typically the highest chances for relapse happens within the first year post treatment. The survival rates go up very favorably if things are clear at this stage.
An important issue we will be discussing with his oncologist is his thyroid. Please pray for wisdom as we make some decisions on how to deal with the low production of growth hormone. We ask that you would pray for continued growth in Kyler’s body. He’s up to a whopping 40 pounds now but doing very well otherwise.
As you can see, he is still taking his nasty cocktail. You should smell that stuff. I can’t believe he does it so well.
Please pray for peace for Sandie and I as we will be handing over the films from his MRI to the doctor and sitting there as it is reviewed. It’s pretty nerve wracking.
We’ll update you with news in a few days with the results.
Peace,
Darrell
