Kyler’s Updates

Yesterday, we went out to Sacramento for Kyler’s next MRI.  It doesn’t really bother him too much to have to fast.  I guess all the fasting he did during radiation helped him to just deal with it when it comes.  His MRI was 2 hours long as they wanted scans of full brain and spine this time.  His first thought when he woke up was for his vanilla milk from Starbucks.  He was so out of it when he drank it, that 2 hours later, he had no memory of drinking it and was mad that he didn’t remember enjoying it!

We got a bite to eat and then went over to the cancer center to have appointments with his oncologist and neurosurgeon.  It always feels horrible right as they are viewing the scans right in front of us.  Then it feels wonderful when they say, “Well, all his scans look great!”  Thank you, Lord!

As they measured his head and over-all growth, they reported that his growth is now far below the level of where an 8 year old should be.  We have been waiting to see if his body would grow with some of the natural supplements were we giving him.  Our nutritionist suggested we wait a few years before starting medicine. Now, with it being almost 3 years past his diagnosis, we will consider some medicine for his thyroid.  It should stimulate his growth and help in the cognitive area too.

We sure appreciate everyone’s support and prayer for Kyler!  We have so much to be thankful for!

We will keep you all posted with news about Kyler and our next step with the decision about Darrell’s job.

Love,
Sandie
