98.5 The OCEAN’s RADIOTHON FOR KIDS SURPASES $1 MILLION MILESTONE FOR BC CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

VICTORIA, BC – BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and 98.5 The OCEAN are proud to announce that the sixth annual OCEAN’s Radiothon for Kids has reached a fundraising milestone.  This year’s event raised $188,403 for the urgent needs of BC Children’s Hospital, and brought the cumulative total of the Radiothon since 2003 to just over $1 million. The event kicked off on Thursday May 2, with morning show hosts Michael Forbes and Lisa Marshall, at Hillside Shopping Centre.  Forbes and Marshall announced the final total at 6pm on Friday, May 3.

Throughout the live broadcast, OCEAN listeners heard many touching stories of Vancouver Island families who’ve experienced the incredible care and attention of BC Children’s Hospital.  Funds raised from the OCEAN’s Radiothon for Kids go directly to BC Children’s Hospital for urgently needed research, equipment, and education programs.

Responsible for the health and well being of children between the ages of birth and 16 years, BC Children's Hospital sees more than 179,000 patient visits a year, with more than 6,700 of those coming from the island. It is the only full-service acute pediatric care hospital, the most comprehensive in Western Canada, and is one of Canada’s two premiere diagnostic and treatment centres for children with heart defects.
