Kalani High School Band

 
 

The Kalani High School Band program consists of students grades 9-12. The Marching band, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble have performed at various music festivals, community concerts and parades in Hawaii, the U.S. Mainland and in foreign countries.


The “Falcon” Marching Band performs at Christmas parade in the community and has participated in every Aloha Festival Parade since 1967. They have also traveled abroad to perform at the 50th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, under the direction of Mr. Benjamin  Kuraya and the Tournament of Roses parade in 1968, 1982 and in 1988 with Mr. Kenneth Kawashima and Mr. Steven Hirahara respectively. Most recently under the current director, Mr. Dennis Kaneshiro, the band performed at the 1993 Holiday Bowl Parade.


In 1995, the Kalani High School Symphonic Band performed at Disney World’s Epcot Center in Florida, and toured the East Coast. The band also traveled to Japan in March 1999, Anaheim, California to participate in Disney’s Music Magic Days, Sydney, Australia in 2003, New York City and Washington D.C. in March 2005 for a tour and clinic at the United States Air Force Band facilities. Most recently, the Marching Band and Wind Ensemble toured Tokyo for a performance at Tokyo Disneyland and a clinic in Hamamatsu.


There are currently 210 students enrolled in the band program at Kalani High School.
