big news
Hello There,
There really is an awful lot of information in this email, so please bear with it, it is likely that at some point there will be stuff of interest to you. i am sorry its in such a large dollop, but i think its fair to give you information to make tactical decisions regarding edinburgh and/or touring. Here we go. Strap in.
I am currently working on two new shows for Edinburgh the blurbs for each show are below followed by preview dates, edinburgh dates and in terms of the stand up show, tour dates.

We Are Gathered Here.
By
Daniel Kitson.
Everyone you have ever known will die.
And so will you.
And yet we dance in the looming shadows of mortality, we dance and we talk and we eat and we argue. We read books. We care for people. We buy houses. We plant trees and we start to drive and we learn how to make milk frothy. Because something, somewhere in the middle of it all has to matter. As our seconds and minutes and days slip by, something has to be important. And who are we to giggle and point and sneer at what others have found to care about? Who is to say what is beneath us, what is not worthy of our hearts?
Everybody needs something to hold when it gets dark, so who am I, who are any of us, to point at anything and call it facile or redundant or stupid or rubbish?
Even when it quite clearly is.
A new stand up show about finding something important in an ocean of twaddle.

The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church
by Daniel Kitson
Gregory had fifty seven letters to write. He’d never written that many letters, not in one go. In fact, he’d never written a single letter and it was taking significantly longer than he’d anticipated. He’d started, full of optimism, curiously enough, at 9 am and now here he was 8 hours later half way through letter twenty four. He glanced at his watch and then at the noose hanging over his head.
Gregory sighed.
Had he known how long suicide letters take, he thought, he wouldn’t have cancelled the milk for the morning.
A story of a death postponed by life.

The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church
This is on at the Traverse theatre, At 10.15pm from 6th august to 30th august.
There are two things i would say regarding this, the first being that yet again i am a little uncomfortable with the ticket pricings at the Traverse and i'm sorry about that, they need to price things across their programme and whilst i managed to wangle slightly cheaper tickets last year, that hasnt been possible this year because i am in the smaller and therefore already marginally cheaper room.
which brings me to the second point. i'm in traverse two, which is significantly smaller than the room i have been in at the traverse for previous shows, there is, therefore a chance that this will sell out a little quicker than anticipated. so i would, whilst trying to retain my dignity, advise haste. ahem. pardon me.
Traverse Tickets are available through
http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase
and the edfringe website.
GAVIN OSBORN'S DEBUT EDINBURGH SHOW
If you have seen me in regents park over the years, or on the national tour of 2004 you will have doubtless heartily enjoyed the lyrical melancholy of Gavin Osborn, for those of you who dont know he is a singer/songwriter and is excellent.
you can listen to some stuff at www.myspace.com/gavinosborn
he is on at the Tron as part of the five pound fringe. its on at 3pm from the 6th to the 15th. it is genuinely worth your while getting a piece of that sweet pie. by which i mean, you should go. something lovely to do in the daytime, for a fiver, wallop.

WE ARE GATHERED HERE - STAND UP TOUR (UK AUSTRALIA and NEW YORK)
I am taking We are Gathered Here. on tour. These are the Dates as they currently stand, all these are confirmed with tickets onsale either now, or very very soon unless stated otherwise. please google the venues for tickets. all prices are as close to a tenner as the theatre would let me have them, its a tricky argument to make to cash strapped theatres with other people charging £18.50-£30.00 for a stand up show, but everyones costs are minimal, so much more than a tenner it really starts to take the piss a bit.
Along with the following dates i am also in the process of trying to sort dates in exeter, plymouth, northampton, ireland and london. these may or may not be added over the coming weeks. but i will announce them on here as soon as they are. for now, the tour is as follows

66A CHURCH ROAD - IN AUSTRALIA
66a Church Road - A lament made of memories and kept in suitcases. is going to Sydney in november/december 2009 (w/c 23rd november - 13th decmeber TBC) and on to Melbourne in January of 2010 (12th - 31st TBC) these two runs are still to complete the contracts but they are both pretty certain and i wanted to give people a heads up. the january run in melbourne will also feature a late night showing of The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church.
And there is a chance that either one or both of these shows will then proceed to brisbane, adeliade and perth.
All details to follow.
------------------------------------------------------------
And finally, im aware that there will be some areas not covered by these various escapades and so with that in mind, i will say again, that i really do hope to have some stand up shows and a couple of story things out on cd by the end of the year.
Thanks for reading all this, it is, as ever massively appreciated.
