
Dr. Verkaik is a board certified optometric physician. She received
her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern College of
Optometry in May, 2000.
A native of Eustis, Florida, she attended the University of Florida as an academic scholar. During her years as a Florida "Gator", she
was awarded the Anderson Scholar Certificate of High Distinction. Dr. Verkaik earned the VSP scholarship for the demonstration of excellence in primary care skills and the Wesley-Jessen contact lens
achievement award for maintaining the highest academic average in all contact lens courses. She is the 1999 SOLAQuest ophthalmic scholar and earned honors in all clinical courses. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association and the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society.
Dr. Verkaik and her husband, D.J., have four children. She enjoys traveling with her family and story time with her kids before tucking them in bed at night.
