1. ★ On a documentary assignment, Dominique James recently photographed one of the greatest jazz living legends, Charles Lloyd. The Charles Lloyd Quartet performed at The Concert Hall near Central Park in New York City. This show is part of the annual JVC Jazz Summer Festival ’08. Every summer, New York City celebrates jazz music through a series of stunning performances of some of today’s amazing and well-loved jazz talents.

1. ★  Professional photographer Dominique James, currently based in the United States, is one of the Apple certified professionals and trainers for Apple’s latest all-in-one post-production software for photographers called Aperture. He regularly conducts seminars, workshops and lectures on various aspects of digital post-production workflow, and he shares his expertise as a weekly contributor to two major online resources on Apple’s Aperture for photographers, O’Reilly Media’s Inside Aperture and the Aperture Users Professional Network (AUPN). DATELINE: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 01, 2008

1. ★  Two important major international events essential to photography happened in the first month of the year. First was the annual week-long Macworld Conference & Expo 2008 held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California; and second is the PMA ’08 International Convention and Trade Show held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
   

As a Mac enthusiast and since The Playground is an all-Mac photography studio, photographer Dominique James attended the Macworld Conference & Expo 2008. He met with independent Aperture experts Ben Long, Derrick Story and Jeffery Morse during the conference proper, and on the show floors, he combed the isles with an eye for the latest and the greatest on digital imaging.

Dominique James also attended Steve Job’s keynote presentation at Moscone West where Jobs unveiled the latest and greatest Apple and Mac innovations. This year, the MacBook Air was introduced.

One highlight of Macworld is a visit to Apple’s headquarters. Together with representatives from the Philippines, Dominique James drove to Cupertino, straight into 1 Infinite Loop for a special tour of Apple’s HQ. During this tour, he met with Martin Gisborne, Apple’s Product Marketing Manager for Aperture. Dominique James first met Martin Gisborne in Cambodia some two years back during a special Aperture conference organized by Apple Asia for professional photographers from various Asian countries.
