those whom he met during a photo exhibition featuring the works of Auey Santos included: Horace Posadas, Kyo Suayan, Albert Yan, Franz Albert Dimson, and Bert Dimson. Other than photography, the get-together focused on many interesting inter-related topics covering art, digital imaging, film photography, old (film) and new (digital) cameras, among others.

Dominique James also met with professional photographer Manny Lim, and his lovely wife, Grace. Discussion turned over to the latest tools and practices in digital photographic imaging.

Because San Francisco has an active Filipino community, Dominique James also met with some of the movers and shakers behind the awesome Pinoy Lifestyle group headed by the husband-and-wife tandem of Gerry and Chet Socco. Agnes Torres of Torres Engineering was also one of those whom Dominique James met from the PLS group.

                                                                                                                       One of the major highlights of Dominique James’ trip to San Franscisco was a day-long educational and emotional visit to the famed San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Among the number of ongoing exhibits, one was entitled “Picturing Modernity” that showcased the museum’s extensive collection of authentic prints featuring various photographic processes ranging the gamut of ambrotype, tintype, albumen print, cyanotype, salt print, woodburytype, platinum print, gelatin silver print, printing-out paper print, dye diffusion transfer print, chromogenic print, and silver dye bleach print.

The different photographic processes on display is an eye-opener for those who have been weaned only in the digital age of photography. This exhibit connects digital photographers today to its real photographic roots.

Technology and art being the over-arching theme of Dominique James’ trip to San Francisco, he got acquainted with a fantastic Filipina painter, Edna Dimson. Edna’s awesome paintings of lighthouses, landscapes and human figures blows out some that are displayed at the San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art. Just like painter Georgia O’Keefe, the works of Edna Dimson are amazing representations of the world around her.

The whole day on-location shoot was held at Rusan’s in Glorietta 4. The photographs from this marathon editorial pictorial will be featured in the upcoming issue of Hair Asia. Hair Asia, the authoritative magazine featuring the latest styles of the greatest hair and makeup artists and products worldwide, is exclusively produced by the fabulous and beautiful publisher, Evelyn Alvaran-Cruz.

1. ★  Multiple award-winning photographer Renzo Sen was given a new award in recognition of his selfless volunteerism in advocacy thru photography of a medical condition called psoriasis. Renzo Sen, who happens to be also a medical practitioner, received the award from PsorPhil, an organization responsible for providing assistance to psoriasis patients and for the information campaign on psoriasis. Dr. Vermen M. Verallo-Rowell, foremost Philippine dermatologist and founded of VMVRC, handed the award to Renzo. The awarding ceremony, held at the Rajah Sulayman Theatre in Manila, is in keeping with the international celebration of the World Psoriasis Day.

1. ★  S Magazine taps multiple award-winning photographer Renzo Sen for an exclusive editorial pictorial of legendary beauty advocate Ellen Lising, together with her lovely family. The pictorial, held at Ellen Lising’s well-guarded and restricted private residence, also gives S Magazine readers a first-hand intimate look into her abode, and domestic life. 1. ★  Photographer Renzo Sen, together with The Playground’s marketing consultant, Rane Papio, attended the official launch of the much-anticipated Leopard operating system for the Macintosh at the PowerMac Center in Greenbelt 3. The Playground Professional Photography Studios is a certified all-Mac photo studio. Photography and business partners Renzo Sen and Dominique James, as well as Rane Papio, are proud and certified active members of the Philippine Macintosh Users Group (PhilMUG). Many PhilMUG members also trooped to PowerMac Center to attend the event. The day after, all MacPros, iMacs, MacBook Pros, MacBooks, PowerBooks and iBooks used by the photographers, digital artists, graphic designers, affiliates and team members of The Playground Professional Photography Studios collectively and promptly upgraded to the latest and the greatest operating system in the world.

1. ★  Fanny Serrano, famous for hair-and-makeup styling, feminine fashion designs, and award-winning acting, will soon be also known for gourmet coffee. 1. ★  In a marathon location photo shoot, multiple award-winning Renzo Sen completed shooting about a hundred of the country’s finest and most fascinating bonsai for the annual PBSI National Bonsai Exhibition & Open Competition organized by the Philippine Bonsai Soceity, Inc. The exhibition and competition was held at the Big Dome in Araneta Center.
   

The photographs from this photo session will be used in the society’s upcoming exclusive coffee table book and promotional materials as well as for presentation to international organizations, conferences and competitions.

This is the 3rd year that Bobby Gopiao and Yumie Gupit of the Philippine Bonsai Society, Inc. has commissioned the team of Dominique James and Renzo Sen to handle the professional photography requirements. Bobby Gopiao, the president of the Philippine Bonsai Society, Inc., said, “your artistry in photography had made our trees [look] beautiful.”

1. ★  Barely 2 weeks in the United States of America, advertising, commercial, corporate and fashion photographer Dominique James (who is also a noted celebrity portraitist), gains media entry when he received an invitation to be a contributing editor, feature writer and regular blogger to two of the world’s most prominent online media portals for digital technology and digital imaging.

1. ★  The Philippine Ford Supermodel Search 2007 is now in full swing. Renzo Sen met with the finalists for their photo shoot held at The Playground. The session, which lasted half a day, focused on capturing the clean facial beauty of the new models.
   

Sarah Meier, one of the country’s hottest models and endorsers, led the newcomers through the rigors of a professional studio beauty photo shoot. After the shoot, Sarah exclaimed: “it was another fun day at the playground!”

DATELINE: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2007

1. ★  Renzo Sen is now photographing all the major stars, top-billed by Vic Sotto, of the much-anticipated fantasy film, Enteng Kabisote 4 (The Legend of the Beginning). This movie, the 4th in a series, is one of this year’s entries to the prestigious Metro Manila Film Festival.
   

Renzo, together with Dominique James, also recently completed photographing the stars of the movie Pasukob, starring Ruffa Mae Quinto and Ai-Ai de las Alas.

Both feature films, Enteng Kabisote 4 and Pasukob, are produced by OctoArts Films.

1. ★  Dominique James, currently in the US, will be attending the prestigious Photo+Plus International Conference & Expo at The Jacob Javits Center in New York City on October 18 to 20. He will be there to visit the Nikon, Epson, Apple, and Wacom booths.
   

He will also be visiting the booths of the Aperture Users Professional Network and O’Reilly’s Inside Aperture to meet with industry experts, trainers, photographers, colleagues, among others.

1. ★  Dominique james will then be flying to Singapore on November 1 to 6 to deliver a series of talks and conduct a couple of hands-on workshops during the Photo Imaging Exchange 2007 at the Suntec Convention Center. PIX 2007 is the conference component to the Imaging Expo Singapore 2007.
   

Dominique has 5 scheduled speaking engagement at this event, focusing mostly on the advanced photography techniques.

1. ★  Koelnmesse, one of the world’s largest trade fair organizers, is launching the first major interactive imaging and photography event in Asia Pacific -- Photo Imaging Exchange (PIX) 2007.
   

The four-day event, to be held from 1-4 November 2007 at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, comprises a trade exhibition of the latest imaging and photography technology and high-quality interactive digital photography workshops, lectures and fun photo events.
