Michelle got a job, Damien looks to be getting one, and Bill was approached today about two! DF Employment Inc. seems to be doing well. Actually, we just pray.
Though I’m part of a presentation next month at the ACU Lectureship in Abilene, Texas, I was omitted from the program. Ironically, I think that is appropriate considering that I am helping lead a discussion on Missional Leadership. Should it matter who the presenters are? Wouldn’t it be jolting to the status quo to produce the program schedule with subjects, times, and places but nothing about who is doing what! How would we choose which sessions to attend if we didn’t know who the speakers or teachers would be?
Anyway, here’s the corrected version . . . and NO I didn’t have anything to do with the title! (Is it a subtle complement, an insulting jab, an attempt at marketing, that is, being attractional for a missional session - which would make it a really complex/ironic title. The possibilities make my head hurt).
Title
UP WILLOW CREEK WITHOUT A HYBELS
2 p.m., Leading by Cultivating Missional Imagination
Presenters
Chris Flanders (Abilene, Texas), Robert Foster (Dallas, Texas) and Mark Hopkins (Pasadena, Calif.) and Greg Newton (B’ham, AL)
Location
Williams Performing Arts Center, Muns Choral Rehearsal Hall
Description
For a new missional frontier, traditional patterns of leadership that
emphasize problem solving and predicting outcomes will simply not be
adequate. Missional leadership will need to develop Christian
imagination through the cultivation of spiritual practices. Come and
explore what possibilities leadership on the missional frontier holds.
