What is this:
QuickInstaller is an Applescript droplet that lets you easily and quickly install installer packages without the need to go through the installation setup process, by using „Drag & Drop“. Simply drop any installer packages – or disk images which contain installer packages – to this Applescript droplet, and it will process them appropriately.

Main Purpose:
Not having to mess with a lenghty and sometimes tedious installation setup is considered the main advantage of the QuickInstaller Applescript droplet.
Anyway, everything contained in an EULA or ReadMe text is still valid and fully applies, even though the person in charge of the installation process did not read or explicitly agreed to it.
This utility is basically targeted to people who repeatedly of frequently have to perform software installation processes, e.g. quality assurance staff, beta testers, etc.

How does it work:
You can drop more than one file at once onto the QuickInstaller Applescript droplet, it will process each file accordingly after asking for confirmation [see screenshot].

Because it calls the command line version of Apple’s Installer application which neither requires nor allows any GUI interaction, no EULA screens, ReadMe texts or option dialogues will be presented.

In case an installer package requires administrator privileges to accomplish its task, the QuickInstaller Applescript droplet will use the standard system mechanisms to provide such administrator rights to the installer application (usually a dialogue is shown to request an administrator’s username and password) [see screenshot].

Features:
• Installs installer packages without the GUI of Apple’s Installer application
• Supports drag & drop of multiple files
• Installer packages will be installed
• Disk images will be mounted and searched for an installer package
• Disk images will be unmounted after successful installation or when no appropriate installer package could be found
• When finished, a dialogue tells whether the installation process was successful, or otherwise the error message returned from Apple’s Installer application

Restrictions:
• No progress dialogue is shown during the installation process
• A dropped disk image which does not contain exactly one (1) installer package at its root level is not processed, so to prevent undesired installations

System Requirements:
• PowerPC based or Intel based Apple Macintosh Computer
• Mac OS X 10.3 (or higher)
