Troubleshooting - FAQ

The app crashes!!!
If you have trouble running the app, (i.e. crashes), download it, Control-click the icon and choose “Show Package Contents”. Then, go into the Contents folder, then the MacOS folder. Open the JapanesePod101 file inside that folder. The Terminal app will now start. Please copy and email me anything that comes up in that window. I will then be able to fix the problem : ).

Uninstalling
• If you are an admin, or if an admin opened the app, you should delete the folder at:
/Library/Application Support/JapanesePod101.com/
along with the preference file at:
/Users/yourShortUserName/Library/Preferences/com.DimitriBouniol.JapanesePod101.plist
• If you are a regular user, and an admin never used the app, you should delete the folder at:
/Users/yourShortUserName/Library/Application Support/JapanesePod101.com/
along with the preference file at:
/Users/yourShortUserName/Library/Preferences/com.DimitriBouniol.JapanesePod101.plist

Were is the controller to play and pause an episode? (For Beta 1.4 & under)
Were is the episode transcript?
Due to bad planning in Beta 1.2, the playback controller and episode transcripts where hidden. This problem has been fixed in Beta 1.3, but if you did run Beta 1.2, and are still lost, please resize the main window and open the split that appears in between the table and episode info.

Is the app integrated with iTunes and iPod in any way?
Because of the complicated nature of the QuickTime API, I have not yet found a way to get the exact copy of what was downloaded in an effective way. Therefore, the files have been saved as .mov QuickTime movies, which are not compatible with iTunes. Sorry.

Where are the episodes hidden?
First, go to the folder mentioned in “Uninstalling”, then double click the Episodes folder. From there, just right-click (or control-click) a file, and choose “Show Package Contents” from the Contextual Menu.

My question is not on this page, what should I do?
Because not too many people asked questions, this FAQ is incomplete. If you have have a question, please email me directly at dimitri008@mac.com.
