Professor Dikötter is currently writing two books on the everyday experiences of communism in China. The first book, based on a several thousand party archives from village, city, county and provincial collections as well as over two hundred transcribed interviews, will be published by Bloomsbury (UK) and Walker Books (US) in October 2010 and covers the famine of 1958 to 1962.
