Fiber Art / Surface Design

In the Winter Session 2010 students were introduced to techniques artists use for coloring, patterning, and structuring works of art made with fabric. Beginning with 10 pieces of white fabric each, they were guided through a wide variety of surface design techniques including: low emersion dying, fabric painting, glue resist design, printing with stamps, monoprinting, fabric piecing, fused appliqué, machine stitching, hand stitching, soft sculpture, and embellishing with buttons and beads. It was a very complex and demanding process and I am very proud of what they have accomplished.
