Four Weeks of Training....

Seems like forever since Austin’s Danskin... looking forward to the next set of back to back Danskins in one week,  as it requires me to be very focused on race preparations. On June 7th, I managed to take a tumble during a race at the Stroke and Stride and now my wound is healing from a deep abrasion below my left knee. I am thankful for no broken bones or sprains, just a battered ego... and humor takes care of that... My coach scheduled several sprint bike workouts,  a tri simulation, and great track workouts. Feeling strong. My weakest sport, swimming,  took a positive turn this week while visiting Casper, Wyoming. Thanks to connecting with Dean Hawks, via the Triathlon Community, my appreciation for open water swimming has grown too. Dean is the high school and master’s swim coach and has a passion for open water swimming. He is blessed with one of the best venues to enjoy this sport... Lake Alcova. We left Casper at 5:30 PM and arrived at the lake with a threat of a lightening/thunderstorm... and the wind creating waves on the water... I followed Dean’s lead, and soon we were cruising along in the pristine waters. I could see 8 - 10 feet... how wonderful! Here in Colorado, the water is so stirred up, you are lucky to see two feet.  We swam for forty minutes, until the very close storm chased us out to the “safety” of the land and the vehicle... It was such a treat, and it left me hungry for more open water swimming,  especially in clearer waters. So it means driving down to Chatfield and swimming in the gravel pit... plan on doing that Monday night!
