Believe it or not, this is a totally unmanipulated photograph! One evening I was driving into Kaunakakai and saw a flock of birds over a field. As they turned into the light, they became a winged rainbow! I couldn’t believe my eyes. What was I looking at? I shot some photos and then watched as the whole flock settled on a nearby house. Pigeons! They were homing pigeons! Turned out the uncle who owned them dyes them with food coloring (they love their new colors which fade back to white in a few weeks) and then flies them for weddings or whenever he feels like it. Whenever I need a boost of wonder, I make sure I’m at his house in the evening when he lets them out. What fun!
