This piece was done on SX-70 Polaroid film in a process where the actual film emulsion is “mushed” with a burnishing tool so that the resulting photograph takes on a more painterly look. The original polaroid is 3”x3” so I have to do the “mushing” with an extra set of cheater glasses over my normal glasses. I look ridiculous, but the finished piece looks lovely. The doorway is part of an old ohana house just up the street from my own house in Kalae on Molokai.
