The above report contains several references to calculated parameters and models relating to the impacts on the environment.  The attached models are done in an excel workbook and modifiable by the user.  In general, the yellow cells are variable that can be user changed and all the other are calculated values or ones that the user changes at his own risk. 


There are many simplifications, but this is often in subject areas where even a non-optimal model will show the magnitude of the problem.  For example, we show in the nutrient spread sheet under phosphorous that bottom trawlers can be putting 10 time more P nutrient into the hypoxic zone in the Norther Gulf than the Mississippi river.  The model can’t say how biologically active this P is, just that the trawlers are transporting it from the sediment to the water column.
