The Housing Support Service commenced in March 2003 when the Befriending Service and Good Morning Telephone Helpline amalgamated and were developed further to meet the service criteria for Supporting People.

The service accepts referrals from people over the age of 55 who live in West Lothian and are vulnerable requiring support to maintain their tenancies. The Housing Support Service currently supports upto 30 tenants living in their own homes.

Funding was initially made available through Transitional Housing Benefit, which is administered by West Lothian Council.

Two full time and six part time support workers supported by a full time manager, two part time administrators and two part time administrators staff the service.

The success of the service is reflected in a current waiting list of around twenty people.

Administered by the West Lothian Council Supporting People Unit” The service has an annual budget of over £90,000. The Housing Support Service has completed two annual reviews by West Lothian Council and the Care Commission.

Referrals can be made by contacting the Housing Support office on 01501 749974.
