FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions!
What does the typical day look like?
We begin our days early with breakfast no later than 7 and board the bus by 7:30. We get lots done in a day. We take breaks too! We will stop for a nice lunch and be back to our hotel by 4:30 p.m. or so. Evenings are yours for exploration or resting! (We’ll tell you where the best coffee and shopping can be found!)
How is the guiding and teaching done?
We will give you readings for each evening in the Scriptures. Each day, we will read at the holy sites. The Hebrew guide -- Reuben -- will share about the history and geography and one of the Pastors will share from the Biblical perspective. We will sing and worship throughout the day!
What will the food be like?
Breakfasts and dinners are provided by the hotels where we stay and are buffet style. Meats and salads are provided at every meal as well as great desserts at dinners. Most people find the meals very enjoyable -- and much more than you can eat! You can also buy snacks and food while there!
What about bathrooms?
Clean restrooms are available throughout each day. You don’t have to worry about this one! However, bring along your hand sanitizer to stay as germ-free as possible. (Also, some of the bathrooms cost about one shekel --30 cents-- to use; so keep some change with you.)
Will there be time for shopping?
There will be a little time for shopping early in the trip and more time later! Anything that can be found in only one place or best prices -- we will tell you! We will stop at several “outlets” (olive wood, Hebron glass, Naot shoes, etc.)
What will temperatures be like?
In October and November it is very pleasant in Israel. Temperatures should be in the 70’s and 80’s during the day and, of course, cooler in the evenings. Plan on jackets or sweatshirts in the evening.
How much money do I take?
A few hundred dollars cash is usually enough as credit cards are accepted almost anywhere. Take plenty of “singles” so that you don’t have to worry about change. (Better bargaining power too!)
How do I pack?
The packing list can be found here. Remember that you will have one suitcase to check and one carry-on -- so pack as light as possible. You can wash necessities in Woolite if necessary or send clothes out to be laundered. Dress for comfort--not fashion!
REMEMBER: You can check ONE BAG! It must:
• Weigh 50 pounds (22.5 kg) or less.
• Not exceed 62 inches when you total length plus width plus height.
You can carry on one bag plus one personal item per passenger as long as it:
• Weighs less than 40 pounds (18 kg).
• Does not exceed 45 inches when you total length plus width plus height.
• Fits easily into Delta’s SizeWise® unit (approximately 22"x14"x9").
• Fits in an overhead bin or underneath the seat in front of you.
What about tips?
All tips for guide, bus driver and hotels are included in the price of your trip. You don’t need to tip anyone!
What about electrical power?
You will need an adaptor for your cameras, hairdryers, etc. in Israel. We will show you exactly what you will need at our first meeting.
Speaking of hairdryers . . .?
Most hotels say that they provide them . . . and the might! But we have learned that you are probably better off to take your own just in case.
How do we travel in Israel?
We travel in modern, air-conditioned buses that are comfortable and roomy! However, some Israeli roads are windy and hilly so if you are prone to motion-sickness, take the necessary precautions.
