Henk van Beijeren and I went up to Seaman's Hut in brutal conditions. I checked the met bureau website afterwards. The average windspeed was 70km/hr but many gusts were above 100 km/hr. Temperature was 0-2C. Mostly we were in thick fog with some light sago (halfway between snow and hail.) These photos don't do justice to the day because they were taken near the Charlottes Pass car park late in the afternoon when conditions were beginning to clear. Earlier in the day photgraphs in the open were simply impossible - but then again there was nothing to see anyway. I tell no lie when I say that Seaman’s Hut (made of stone and concrete; erected in memory of, now of 5 people ,who have died in this area.) shuddered in the wind blasts.
