Puppetry is an art form that has enjoyed a resurgence of late, from Juile Taymor’s The Lion King to video and film production all over the world. Put simply: puppets aren't just for kids anymore. Students learn the basics of this versatile, poetic, and widely-applicable (and marketable) performance style. Shakespeare: The Actor’s Text - 60 or 90 minutes For Students and Teachers, all levels. Participants learn some of the basic and most common acting clues contained in Shakespeare's texts, through example, discussion, and scene work. Get Shakespeare off the page and into your mouth! Students learn to begin to apply this awareness, encouraging their performances to become richer and more compelling for the audience, and more fun to perform.
Vincenzo Tortorici is a 19-year veteran actor, clown, puppeteer and educator based in Atlanta. He has presented these workshops at the Georgia State Thespian Festival since 1998, and is a guest artist at the North Carolina School of the Arts, Atlanta International School, and a variety of training programs in the United States and in Europe.
