Sandbox is a group of Japanese artist who have been active in exploring the potential of glass as a sculptural material and promoting sculptural glass, since 1999. Our activities involves, organizing exhibitions, giving demonstrations and workshops. The primary interest of the group is to promote sculptural glass originating from Japan.
We also call our solid glass sculptural pieces and our exhibitions, “Katamari Glass” which literary means “solid glass.”
The name “Sandbox,” is taken from the box used to sand cast glass. The box contains sand that is used to make sand moulds in which hot glass is cast.
