ABOUT: Deborah Eve Friedes is an embodied scholar, engaging both mind and body in her research, and a thinking dancer, fusing artistry and analysis in her physical practice.  She received a BA in Dance History from Brown University and an MFA with an emphasis in Directing from Labanotation Score from The Ohio State University.  During the 2007-2008 academic year, Deborah researched and danced in Israel on a Fulbright grant.

Since making aliyah (immigrating) to Israel in 2008, Deborah founded the blog Dance in Israel. This site will feature weekly articles about Israeli contemporary dance, podcasts with Israeli dance professionals, calendars of events in Israel and abroad, videos, photographs, links, and other resources.  Besides publishing new content, Dance in Israel will compile Deborah's articles and podcasts from The Winger, IsraelSeen, and her own blog from this website.

With her partner Tal Galili, Deborah recently initiated Dance Bloggers, an aggregator for dance blogs.  As she settles into Tel Aviv, Deborah is building a career as a freelance writer and lecturer.
