WORLD CLASS CHAMPION !
Richard Colbert, a member of the SCSHC, competed in Class E-2 at the 100th Anniversary of the World Horseshoe Pitching Championships which were held at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center in Springfield, IL July 27 through August 8, 2009. Richard placed first in his class with a record of 13-2 and a 37.83 ringer percentage, which earned him a championship trophy and a monetary prize.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa will be the site for the World Tournament for 2010, July 26 through August 7.
Anyone can qualify to pitch in the Tournament by joining the SCSHC club and pitching in 4 sanctioned tournaments before May 14, 2010. Contestants at the World Championships pitch 5 games of 40 shoes each in a round robin of 16 during a 3-day period.
This two-week tournament is held once each summer to crown a World Champion horseshoe pitcher in each of eight divisions - Open Men, Open Women, Senior Men, Senior Women, Elder (short-distance) Men, Junior Boys, Junior Girls and Junior Cadets (9-years old and under).
Congratulations to Richard Colbert for his outstanding pitching at the 2009 World Horseshoe Pitching Championships.
Roberta Kolosiek finished 2nd in Women’s Class G with a 11-4 record and 45% ringer average.
