City of Anderson

Behind the shadow of the Alaskan Range, in the vast Nenana Valley, and in the mist of thick bountiful trees lies the wonderful community of Anderson, Alaska.  Anderson, is located 6 miles off of the Park’s Highway at mile 283.5.  The nearest urban shopping area is Fairbanks, 70 miles north; a short and scenic hour an fifteen minute drive.  Clear Air Force Station is located 6 miles from Anderson, and is the main employer for the community.  Our Borough, Denali, is named after the National Park that is home to North America’s highest mountain, Mount McKinley.  The primary industry in the Borough is tourism and coal mining.   Temperatures range from 60 below zero to 90+ degrees above zero with an average annual precipitation of approximately 12.7 inches and an annual snowfall of 49.3 inches.  Anderson has approximately 500 people in or near the town and another 1,500 to 1,800 spread along the Parks Highway from the town of Nenana, 26 miles north to Healy, 40 miles south.
