About the choirs at Fossil Ridge High School…

The Choral program at FRHS consists of three choirs: the Select Mixed Choir, the Select Women’s Choir, and the Jazz Choir.  The modified-block schedule enables each choir to rehearse three times each week.

Select Mixed Choir

Membership in the Mixed Choir is by audition only.  Through participation in these large ensembles, students will acquire advanced performance techniques.  At FRHS, the Select Mixed Choir will perform choral repertoire of the highest quality, and will include the study of the vocal mechanism, music theory and music history.  Choirs perform within the community and at state-level events that may require time outside of the school day.  Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is required.

Select Women’s  Choir

Membership in this choir is by audition or by permission of the instructor. The choir performs in various school, community, and state-level events. At FRHS, the Select Women’s Choir will perform choral repertoire of the highest quality, and will include the study of the vocal mechanism, music theory and music history.  Choirs perform within the community and at state-level events that may require time outside of the school day.  Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is required.

Jazz  Choir

Participation in this choir is by audition only, and students must be enrolled in one of the concert groups.  Students are required to have a solid background in basic choral techniques.  The group specializes in jazz, pop, and Broadway idioms.  Students furnish their own performance outfit.  At FRHS, the Jazz Choir is comprised of up to 16 members.  Participation in the Jazz Choir may involve performances within the school or community that require time outside of the school day.
