







Author, Professional Photographer and Printmaker, Digital Imaging and Color Management Consultant
David Saffir is an internationally recognized, award winning portrait, commercial, and fine art photographer and printmaker. He lives near Los Angeles, in the Santa Clarita Valley, California. He is past President of the Santa Clarita Valley Professional Photographers Association.
He is the author of the book Mastering Digital Color: A Photographer's and Artist's Guide to Controlling Color, published by Thomson. His second book, The Joy of Discovery, was published in Spring 2009.

David has had a lifelong interest in photography, and particularly the world of nature and outdoor landscapes. He writes on a number of subjects, and has authored articles on color management, high resolution digital capture, and large format digital printmaking.
David has had an extensive career leading marketing, product management, operations, graphic design, and creative teams as a general manager and vice president for high technology biomedical companies. He has led design, art, and communications groups in US, Europe, and Japan.
Now, David works extensively in portrait and commercial photography. (click here for a portfolio of commercial images by David Saffir) He works primarily with the Hasselblad H-series camera, using a Phase One digital camera back and film. He also uses Nikon and Canon DSLRs, and HP and Epson desktop and wide-format printers.
An accomplished digital printmaker, David Saffir finishes all of his work, and makes limited edition prints for a wide range of artists and photographers. He uses HP and Epson professional inkjet products. He teaches workshops in digital photography, color management, and printing, including the Clear Focus Studio seminar series held nation-wide in the US during 2006, the Hasselblad PowerPro Tour in 2007, and the HP Dreamcolor seminars in 2007 and 2008. He also teaches at Santa Fe Workshops - in 2009 “Digital Fine Art Printmaking” with Jack Duganne, and “Digital Fine Art Reproduction”.
He has taught web seminars for the Professional Digital Imaging Association on digital capture, color control, and printing. He was a conference level speaker at the Rencontres dArles photography conference (France), Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, PMA, and other venues during 2005 and 2006. He taught Master Classes, conducted porfolio reviews, and live photo shoots at Photokina, Cologne, Germany in 2008. He is a color management consultant to individuals and organizations worldwide.
