The cold temperatures have kept the huge quantities of new snow in place and it’s now stabilising very nicely. Things are really looking good for climbing conditions in the near future up here. The photos here are from Friday on Aonach Mor working on the ‘Snow and Ice’ course for Jagged Globe, when abseiling down the ridge of ‘Morwind’ kept us well clear of the freshly formed cornices looming above many of the routes. Also shown is an alternative finish to the very popular Dorsal Arete - this finish is about grade iii and goes up the buttress immediately to the left of the final arete. Good ice climbing conditions often run well into April and beyond in a good season - could this be one of those seasons?
