What is PAT Testing?
 
A 250Rio PAT test consists of a number of set stages and tests which together ensure your company's electrical items are fully tested and secure.
 
The test starts with a visual inspection of appliances and mains in your office space, and then continues onto specific testing of each electrical item in your office.
 
Once the tests are complete, we send you a fully itemised statement of the equipment we have tested, alongside a PAT testing certificate. We'll also label every item that we have tested.
 
Our PAT Testers are fully qualified under the IET regulations (see our legislation section for more information). They've also been selected because of their friendly approach and amount of experience. Our testers are trustworthy, efficient and honest.
 
 
 
Why do you need your appliances tested?
 
 
  1. • To comply with The Electricity at Work Regulations.
 
  1. • To comply with Provision and Use of Work Equipment

  1. • To minimise the risk of fire and injury caused by electrical  
  appliances. Each year about 1000 accidents at work      
  involving electric shock or burns are reported to the
  Health and Safety Executive. About 30 of these are fatal.

  1. • To comply with all Health & Safety requirements and ISO      
   standards.
 
  1. • To comply with Quality Assurances.
 
  1. • Fire officers and Health & Safety Inspectors ask for your

What types of appliance need testing?
 
Any portable electrical appliance which is used in your workplace should be tested.
 
A portable electrical appliance is any piece of equipment which is connected to the electrical mains through a plug (usually 13 amps). It also typically is powered between the 40 and 240 volt range.

How often do my appliances need to be PAT tested?
 
It depends on the sort of appliances we have tested. Our recommendations are based on the guidelines set by the HSE, IET and our own experience.
 
As a general rule, all PAT testing has to be done once a year.
 
 
 
How much does it cost?
 
At 250Rio, we charge a small call-out fee and then a very competitive price per item tested, no matter what the item.

Will the PAT testing work be disruptive to my business?
 
If PAT Testing is planned correctly, then there will be minimal disruption to your business's daily activities.
 
We're happy to work around you. Need us to work later or extra early? No problem. Weekend work? We are happy to do it. Want us to remain in one area of your office in the morning and move around in the afternoon? Consider it done - it's all part of the job for us.
 
As part of the agreement we make with you, we will check what is easiest for you, and work around your needs as best we can.
 
 
 
How long will it take to complete?
 
This depends on how many items we need to test. We always move as quickly as possible, while bearing electrical safety in mind.
 
As a guideline, if we have 50 items to test, then it will take about 2 hours to complete, if all appliances are available and easily accessible.
