Biographical Sketch

Throughout high school and college, I took creative writing courses while pursuing my Associates in Arts and Sciences Degree from Tacoma Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Puget Sound.  I wrote numerous short stories in the fantasy and horror genres and scores of college-level papers in my field of study: comparative world religions.

In both the early and late 1990’s, I worked for the Washington State Department of Ecology and the Washington State Patrol.  I was responsible for the editing and publication of informative pamphlets, books, and financial reports destined for the general population, the legislative staff, and the Governor.  I co-authored some of these publications and created many of the graphics.

In the mid-1990’s, I lived in Athens, Greece, working as a missionary in an English-speaking church.  During that time, I wrote theological position papers and taught accounting and computer skills courses, which I authored.  Making it more challenging, my target audiences were international adults who spoke English as a second language.

In 2000, I began the challenge of penning a novel: SERVANT OF THE JUST.  Since that time, I have finished the second draft of the second novel of the series, WARRIOR OF THE JUST, and I have begun work on the final novel in the trilogy, KINGDOM OF THE JUST.

I am an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction, yet I am disappointed in the limited availability of quality fantasy/sci-fi Christian works.  I have read (and enjoyed) Stephen R. Lawhead’s works since he published his first series, The Dragon King trilogy.  Newcomer Karen Hancock’s Legends of the Guardian King trilogy inspired me with the knowledge that excellent Christian fantasy is becoming popular.  I anticipate a market for my series with readers of fantasy and science fiction, and in particular, in the Christian-fiction readership.

In my three years on the mission field and nearly twenty years working in Christian ministries, I learned first-hand about the struggles people have with faith and theology.  These experiences serve as the foundation for writing a “crisis of faith” novel that will hopefully touch the hearts – and souls – of readers.
