Working in Russia

I travelled to Krasnodar in Russia, close to the Black Sea and Georgia, by way of Vienna and Austrian Airlines. By the way, I can heartily recommend Austrian Airlines to anyone. Their service and the meals on their aircraft are excellent.
I set off from Heathrow at 14:00. It was cool, at 17° C. Vienna was a little better at 19° C. When I arrived at Krasnodar airport at 04:00 the next day, it was 23.5 ° C.

I was collected by a Russian taxi driver (sent by my Company) who drove me 60 km north to Timashevsk, where I was to work at our coffee factory.

The people at the factory were really kind, courteous and helpful.

Ramblings

I stayed at the Company apartment. Goodness only knows what a hotel in Timashevsk would be like! It’s a little basic to say the very least. 70 years or so of Communism has not provided for much infrastructure. Streetlights for example; there weren’t any apart from on the main roads, and then not well sited.
At the weekend, we travelled back to Krasnodar to experience the city. Parts are really nice. Much of it isn’t.
As the saying goes, ‘It’s a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there!
