JAKE RODRIGUEZ WINS GOLD WITH TEAM USA

Second Time in a row that an EGHS Thundering Herd Player has made TEAM USA

Thundering Herd Varsity Player, Jake Rodriguez was selected as a member of the 16U USA Junior Olympic Team that won a Gold Medal this summer in Veracruz, Mexico.


Rodriguez was chosen as a candidate for the Junior Olympic Team playing in the 16U National Championships West in Peoria, Arizona. 


Six other Thundering Herd Players were also competing in this event with their summer ball tournament teams.  Justin Charles, Jared Deacon, Colby Brenner, Will Soto, J.D. Davis and Brett Miller were also in Arizona for the nine day tournament.


Jake and 36 other candidates were flown out to Florida for two weeks of tryouts at the University of Miami.


After returning back to Elk Grove, he was notified that he had made the 2008 USA Junior Olympic Team.  Out of 2,880 players trying to make it on Team USA, only 18 were chosen.


Senior Thundering Herd Varsity Player, Justin Charles won a Gold Medal with Team USA in 2007 and was selected as the Team MVP.
