Frequently Asked Questions

Q:What Do You Do?

A: Usually when someone reads my business name, they ask what I do.  That’s a very good question because my business name doesn’t specifically state what kind of restorations I do, namely, antique electronic restorations.  I do not normally restore cabinets.  However, one of my friends, who is retired, does restore them sometimes.

Q:What do you define as an Antique Electronic Restoration?

A: An Antique Electronic Restoration is the replacement of all Paper and Electrolytic capacitors in an Antique Radio , TV etc.

Q:What is “15 per”?

A: “$15 per” is one way I price an antique radio restoration.   It is $15.00 per capacitor replaced + other parts.*  The initial $15.00 per capacitor covers the cost of the capacitors and labor for the entire restoration. If other parts are necessary, their costs will add the price of the restoration.  No other labor will be charged.

Q: What is White Glove Service?

A: White Glove is the name I used to call one of my flat rate radio or television restoration services.  It is $20.00 per capacitor replaced.   This is the entire price for the restoration.*

*NY State residents must pay sales tax on the restoration.  All must pay for return shipping.

Q: What is Return Shipping?

A: Return Shipping is the amount that was paid to ship an item to me.  I will need that same amount to ship the item back after the restoration.

Q:Why must an initial payment be sent with a Radio or Television?

A: An initial payment, or good faith payment must be sent because a few times an item was sent to me for restoration, and when the work was done, the person sending it said that I could keep it and did not want it back.  Your good faith payment tells me that you are serious about having the work done.

Q:What forms of payment do you accept?

A: I accept USPS (US Postal Service) Postal Money Orders*, PayPal**, or  Cash only. Please do not send cash through the mail.  I do not accept Credit Cards or Debit Cards . But PayPal does. I do not accept personal or bank or teller’s checks or other types of money orders either.

*If another type of Money Order, or a check is sent, it will delay the return of your radio or television.

**Please send all PayPal payments to “dave2653@yahoo.com” in PayPal (www.paypal.com)

Q: Do you have late fees?

A: No but I do have “storage” fees.  If an item is completed and no payment within is made, 15 days later “storage” fees of $1.00 per day begin.  Fees begin after 30 days if no return shipping is paid.

Q:What is “10 per”?

A: “$10 per” is one way I price an antique radio restoration.   It is $10.00 per capacitor replaced + other parts in radios with filter capacitors of 150 volts or less, that do not qualify for one of my specials.*  The initial $10.00 per capacitor covers the cost of the capacitors and labor for the entire restoration. If other parts are necessary, their costs will add the price of the restoration.  No other labor will be charged.

Q: What does “Antique” Mean?

A: Normally “Antique” Means 100 years old.  But in electronics it means, at least 25 years old. To me it’s from the 60s or older.
