Because of the drought, we’ve been watering the plants that were planted last spring in anticipation of the “wet season” which, of course, here in Southwest Florida is summer.  Because we’ve got 135 new plants that need water, we were using up to 300 gallons of water three times a week.  That was showing up on the water bill, so I tapped into some ready water in the form of a couple of artesian wells scattered throughout the park.  All I really had to do was clear a pathway to the spring (well) and put together some fittings and a valve, and hot dang!  “Free” water!  The plan is that the spring will fill the 55 gallon garbage can (used, had some pinholes, thus the garbage bag liner) while we’re out watering.  I’d installed some extra piping and valves on the water pump that rides in the back of the EZ-GO and we’d suck out the water from the garbage can, filling the tank on the EZ-GO, then go water the plants while the spring refilled the garbage can, and think we were smart.

This particular spring is a bit out of the way, but hey.....free water is free water.  Had to clear the way for the EZ-GO to get back there and that was more than a 20 minute job!

Had to cut off a small palm, but it wasn’t about to take the abuse sitting down!  We ran over it several times while we were using this spring and it couldn’t have cared less.

Barb obviously had the camera while I was crashing around in the brush doing some “real” work.  This pretty flowering bush is a Lantana and is an exotic and doesn’t belong in the park, so as soon as one of the fellows who are tasked with exotic removal finds it, it’ll be gone.

No, this isn’t another one of Barb’s special sea shells.  This is a tree snail and it’s very much alive.  Barb had seen it, said she wanted a picture of it, and when she went to get her camera, I took the snail off the limb so she could get a better picture of it.  Only she was hoping to get a picture of it in its natural environment.  Gee, what a “guy” thing to do, eh?  Still a pretty shell.
