FESCUE 911
FESCUE 911
“on call for all your bluegrass emergencies”
Fescue 911 is a Chapel Hill/Durham/Pittsboro based ensemble of local Americana/bluegrass enthusiasts who love to make music together when they're not busy with their day jobs. They have performed at the Festival for the Eno, Shakori Hills, The Haw River Festival, opened for national bluegrass acts, and been part of many a happy wedding party. Their repertoire includes tunes from the likes of The Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe, The Byrds, Gram Parsons, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Hoyt Axton, and even a few originals. The band features: Janet Ray, a local music teacher and mother of five, and a captivating vocalist (just ask her kids); David Tate, an unassuming cardiologist by day and a hot banjo picker by night; David Crabtree, builder of custom homes in Durham and of custom mandolin arrangements for Fescue; Darl Pothoven , a human resource manager who uses his skills to keep the band a harmonious unit with his rock solid bass lines; and Rick Fannin, a molecular biologist with an eye for the details of the G-run on the flat top guitar.

Fescue News
Janet couldn’t join the boys for the annual Wayne Henderson Festival pilgrimage, so “Sparky the Chipmunk” had to fill in for her -- almost as cute but not nearly the vocal chops!
Sparky was heart-broken and downcast
when he realized it was to be only
a one-night stand with Fescue 911
