What's Your Choice?

Right or wrong? Life or death? Choice or obligation? Is there another way out? Should it be your right to kill yourself? The subject of suicide has left the world with more questions than answers, and it has left more broken hearts than mended ones. In my opinion, suicide is wrong!
To take your own life appears to me as an unnecessary action in all cases. It tears apart families, communities, schools, and more. Some people say, that if you want to kill yourself, it's your own personal choice. Although I do agree that it is your decision, you are not the only one affected. Any person you have ever met will be affected.
Another reason I’m against suicide is my religion. All my life I have been raised in the catholic faith. As a catholic, I have been taught that life is a gift, and that only God should choose when you die. I don't know anyone who would want to throw away a delicate girt like life. I surely wouldn't!
Officer Berlin Slone agrees with me. Officer Slone is Decal County’s D.A.R.E officer (drug abuse resistance education). He is also a member of the catholic faith. In Officer Slone's opinion suicide is a cowardly action. He considers suicide to be a type of murder. He knows roughly 12 people who have killed themselves. I asked Officer Slone how Dekalb's student suicides have affected him. He replied, "When a student kills themselves, it upsets me, because they feel like an extended family member to me. It's devastating!" Officer Slone's best advice to someone thinking about committing suicide is to get help! Officer Slone says if you need someone to talk to, he'll listen. You can alson find help at www.InKnowZone.com
So think about it. Is suicide right or wrong? Is it a choice, or an obligation? What will you chose, life or death? How will you get out?
