Dan Rigazzi is a director of Theatre and Opera. This past season, he directed Benjamin Britten’s Noye’s Fludde for St. Bartholomew’s Church and The Tales of Hoffmann for Wolf Trap Opera. In 2010, he directed The Rape of Lucretia for Pittsburgh Opera, and a Triple Bill for Bard’s Graduate Vocal Arts Program, which included Song from the Uproar, by Missy Mazzoli, the premiere of David T. Little’s Vinkensport, and Maurice Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortileges.
 
He was the recipient of the 2009 Boris Sagal Fellowship at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where he directed the workshop premiere of Golden Gate, a musical by Chris Dimond and Michael Kooman. Other projects include Dido and Aeneas at Bard College and the premiere of Courtney Baron’s To Know Know Know Me for the Keen Company. Dan also assisted director Diane Paulus with her production of Hair for the New York Shakespeare Festival, which ran on Broadway and was nominated for eight Tony awards.
 
As an assistant director, Dan has worked for the Metropolitan Opera, The New York Shakespeare Festival, Theatre for a New Audience, Pittsburgh Opera, The Ridge Theater Company, and the Berkshire Opera Company. He has been fortunate to assist directors Evan Yionoulis, Diane Paulus, Mary Zimmerman, David McVicar, Jack O’Brien, Bob McGrath, Gregory Keller and Sam Helfrich.
 
Dan is an alumus of the Drama League Directors Project, a graduate of the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and the University of the South.
