D2 Spring Cup was tough.

The Cosmos tied 1 and lost 2.  The second loss was a miserable one, falling to the Strikers 4-0.

The setting between games was perfect.  We set-up under the canopy on the hill, behind the fields.  Michael introduced us to his sour cream coffee cake, and Herman hooked-up a wonderful sandwich buffet, complete with an assortment of grilled veggies.

In game #1, the Cosmos played a strong first half against the West Valley Surefire.  In the second half, the Surefire pressured the Cosmos, almost scoring, hitting one off the post.  G played a little mid, and made some plays.  Amber made all the saves she needed to, and the game ended scoreless.

In game #2, the Cosmos escaped two close tries by the Gryphons in the first half.  In the second half with the game scoreless, Jessika, the Gryphon center-mid, scored the games only goal on a bang-bang set play.

In game #3, the Cosmos played without Arturo and Amber.  The Cosmos came out flat, and shuffled assignments ineffectively.  Big Ups to Kristen and Mel, who protected the goal for the team.  The Strikers capitalized, making the Cosmos look sloppy, winning the game by a wide margin, 4-0.
