Establish green building practices.  Adopt guidelines and resources for new buildings and remodeling.

Update planning and zoning laws for sustainability and population age changes.  A regional 50 year plan would help.

Recycle our waste for materials recovery, energy production and landfill preservation.  Turn our landfill into a garage sale.

Promote affordable transportation.  Reduce the cost and hassles of transportation while improving access.  Emphasize walkability, bikes and fuel efficient transport.

Develop new fuels and energy.  Slow the hemorrhage of energy dollars that leave our region. Find sensible alternatives that provide us with greater security.

Encourage the production and consumption of local foods.  Work with producers and consumers to improve our foods, use less energy and keep dollars in our community. (See the letter to Greene County Commissioner, Dave Coonrod)

Practice preventive medicine.  Get more for our medical dollars. 

Protect our watershed.   Work in our region to protect our most valuable resource.

Substitute knowledge for resources.  Work with our educational institutions to build curriculums for sustainable subject research and practice.

Weatherize our homes and businesses.  Keep dollars here where they belong by improving the efficiency of our buildings.
