June, July and August were busy months for the knitters.  We finished Rachel and Ken’s wedding afghan, put it together, gave it to them and had our regular knitting at Skein Lane and Peg and Eloise’s houses respectively.  An era at Skein Lane is ending, with a new one about to begin.  Enjoy the pictures.
Afghan/July August Knitting
Putting the afghan together...a blank slate to begin
Piles of squares
Else had a design plan
...and we laid it all out
One, by one we sewed them together after they had been perfectly blockeed by Else
Holly working on a pair
....and another
...now four
...and four more
104 squares total...
...including some hearts...
...it grew and grew
...and grew...
...and grew
Diane actually knitted the very last square

Holly spent some time on the floor
Diane’s David joined us for some food...
...which was delicious
These three stayed until it was finally done
...and then Else returned to see the final result
So yummy
and there it was
We wrapped it with a flower made by Holly
which Rachel wore throughout the wedding
She was speechless
The afghan quickly became the focal point of the reception
and everybody gave it an A+
For the rest of the afternoon we knitted under a tree
and ate and knitted...
and ate and knitted
etc.
etc.  it was a wonderful day
Back in the real world...at Peg’s house, Linda works on the circular baby blanket
Peg shows off the front panels of her shadow knitting cardigan
Else has made another hat for charity
...and so has Holly
...in fact Holly has made two
Claude’s sock in progress
Amy’s baby blanket...she thought it would never end
...with matching hat...
At Eloise’s, Eloise shows off a vest....
Amy has made another wedding purse...
...and a yarmulke...
...and a hat and scarf....busy Amy...
Else is cornering the market on lace....
Linda has finally finished that round blanket
...and previously at Skein Lane had given us a demonstration of what a baby will look like in it
...and last but not least...Else combines her two loves...yarn and mushrooms
