Tour the Arctic with Google Earth

Take a virtual tour of Axel Heiberg Island

Google Earth, a really cool program, allows you to ‘fly’ to Axel Heiberg and visit our various research sites.  This will help you place our work in a better geographic context. Note the landscape which is dominated by glacial and periglacial processes. Large ice-caps and glaciers occupy a sizable fraction of Axel Heiberg Island. If you look closesly, you can locate the springs at Colour Peak and features of other sites discussed on this website. If you have Google Earth installed, you can double-click on the Placemark file below (MyPlaces.kmz)  and use the enclosed placemarks to “fly” you to the High Arctic. If you do not already have Google Earth, you will need to install it by first visiting their website and obtaining the software (available at http://earth.google.com). While there do not forget to obtain google Mars!!
